Hijiate Kokyunage Waza
Hitting Elbow Breath Throw techniques

In this technique, you turn your own elbow against uke’s elbow, applying perpendicular pressure against the elbow in order to throw. This technique can be applied from either a standing
or kneeling position, and in response to many different attacks such as front strike, side strike, punching, or grabbing...etc.

 

Main points to study

1 Do not try to lift uke’s arm with your own arm in order to apply pressure to uke’s elbow.
2 Make sure your hand lets go at the moment you throw uke.
3 Do not bend your back leg.
4 Do not just use hand power; you must relay your hip and leg power to your control hand.
