November: Ikkajo waza
(first control techniques)

First control technique unbalances the body primarily by acting upon the
elbow joint. It can be performed standing or sitting (kneeling), and can be
completed with a pin or a throw.

Main points to study

1 focusing energy to uke's elbow
2 shite's elbow power movement
3 the sword, spear and irimi (entering) movements in the technique
4 forward movement comes from the hips
5 harmonious distance (ma ai)


This months featured variation is
Suwariwaza: mune mochi ikkajo osae ichi
"sitting technique: chest grasp, first control pin #1"
